Start of employment 01.08.2027The Faculty of Theology and Religious Studies at the University of Zurich is seeking to fill a professorship in New Testament Studies with a focus on ancient Judaism, starting on 1 August 2027. Depending on the qualifications of the applicants, the professorship will be filled as an assistant professorship with tenure track or as an associate professorship.
Your responsibilities
The successful candidate will be expected to teach New Testament studies across the entire spectrum of topics and issues. A particular focus will be on research and teaching relating to the earliest Christian writings in the context of ancient Judaism. The professorship is based at the Department of Theology. A willingness to engage with the Swiss context is a prerequisite.Your profile
Applicants must have a doctorate in New Testament studies and, in the case of an associate professorship, a postdoctoral qualification or equivalent qualification. They must have a proven track record of publications and teaching experience. Proven competence in ancient Judaism and relevant source languages is also expected.Willingness to engage in interdisciplinary research, particularly with the Zurich Department of Ancient Studies, and the ability to communicate scientific findings to the general public are required.
